The Thai Particles. The short words placed at the end of sentences
to add politeness, emotion, and tone.
Thai isn’t just about words it’s also about particles.
One of the first things learners notice is that Thai speakers often end sentences with small words called particles. These don’t change the core meaning, but they add politeness, emotion, emphasis, or turn a statement into a question.
For example:
– “ครับ / ค่ะ” show politeness.
– “นะ” makes a sentence sound friendlier.
– “เลย” adds emphasis.
– “ไหม” turns a statement into a question.
These tiny words are everywhere in daily conversations, and mastering them will make your Thai sound much more natural not like something straight from a textbook.
